How long have you been working at Ebury? What is your previous experience?
I’ve been working at Ebury for 6 months now. Back when I first started, I worked for a consultancy company in Lisbon; then I moved to London to take on a position at a software company, where I worked for 4 years. Then back to consultancy once more, working for one of the big ones.
What does it mean for you working at Ebury?
It means doing familiar work, but for a not-so-familiar business; there’s a new world of things to learn and explore.
What motivates you?
I like problem-solving; I enjoy the process of understanding a problem or a need, coming up with and working through the possible solutions, until I find the one that fits. Technology evolves very fast nowadays; it’s very challenging, but you also get to be a little bit creative, which is always fun. And to observe that something I was a part of, helps other people with they day-to-day jobs, in turn helping the company move forward, gives meaning to the work I do and it’s very gratifying.
What’s a typical working day for you?
Typical working day starts with me going through my notes from the previous day, emails and messages from the chat rooms. Then, I attend my team’s daily stand-up, where we keep each other updated on progress of things, discuss blockers, etc. After that, I’ll look at our sprint board, pick up my stories and start working on them; I’m a developer, so most of my day revolves around coding, testing and deploying. Depending on the project, I may need to work on the design of the solution, spec the stories, create documentation, do demos, etc.
How has your job changed since you started working here?
I haven’t been working at the company for a very long time, so not much has changed.
Do you have any advice for people thinking of applying to work for the company?
Go for it! You will be working in the booming FinTech business, meet and collaborate with great people, face exciting challenges everyday, in a hard-working, but fun environment.
