As a result of phenomenal growth and ongoing expansion - as well as Brexit -, we are now looking for a Compliance Manager - Monitoring & Assurance to join the Compliance team based in Brussels, working closely with the Global Compliance Assurance & Monitoring team (based in London) and reporting to the Head of Compliance in Belgium.  The main purpose of this role is to focusing on monitoring & surveillance, conducting audits & reviews, dealing with queries from both front office and senior management regarding regulatory challenges, reporting, specific case studies tailored to the company and interpreting the local and global regulations.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a self-driven Compliance Manager who has gained relevant experience within the financial industry in regulatory (AML, PSD2, MIFID, etc.) and someone who has the ability to take ownership of parts of a compliance framework in a fast-paced Fintech environment and keep driving this forward. The person must demonstrate proven organizational and time management skills, have excellent communications skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to gain credibility fast and influence key stakeholders. The candidate must demonstrate proven organizational and time management skills, have excellent communications skills - all work will be conducted in English so fluency, both written and verbal, is essential as they will need to communicate with colleagues globally. The working environment is fast paced, agile and highly results orientated so the individual must be comfortable working within this type of highly rewarding, dynamic environment. In addition, the individual must be comfortable with working autonomously and have good interpersonal skills to interact with the local and group Compliance teams (Belgium, EEA, UK, Global). 

Key Responsibilities are, but not limited to, assisting the Head of Compliance in:

  • Liaise and collaborate with the Global Compliance Assurance & Monitoring team
  • Taking ownership of the Agents activity oversight in the EEA with the support of the Global team
  • Perform Agents website & promotional literature audits
  • Perform Agents regular full audits along with thematic reviews
  • Carry out call monitoring on direct and indirect clients as part of the Call Monitoring Program
  • Carry out 2nd line comms & surveillance monitoring, working closely with AML & transaction monitoring team
  • Monitor Agents external vendor online module training
  • Ensure that Agents comply with the company’s policies and procedures
  • Working closely with internal teams as part of the onboarding team
  • Keep up to date with the relevant regulatory (including financial crime) changes
  • Assist front office with day to day ad-hoc queries, provide general AML  & regulatory advice to the company
  • Support Senior Management (including the HOC) in the training
  • Advice on regulatory practices for building and strengthening frameworks
  • Collate MI and run data analysis, present your findings/opinions to senior management or members of the board


  • Must have Monitoring & Surveillance, financial crime related experience in the financial industry
  • Preferably having experience in an Payment Institution/Bank
  • 2-3 years industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of the financial regulations, particularly within the Payment/Banking industry
  • Must be able to communicate clearly
  • Must be able to work to strict deadlines
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced industry and highly performing team
